November 27th was our Annual Phoenix Year-End Party at Terra Mare. 53 members

the committee members for the organization. Again this year, Coach Bill Ludlow awarded the "Stick Award" to the most deserving member who represents the values and spirit
of the club - Congratulations to Don Ross who is the 2015 recipient.

Défi Gars Filles at Parc Maisonneuve

11/22/2015

For the last four years Marlène Couture, local runner and blogger, has been organizing a friendly running event open to all runners. The concept is simple, you show up at 9 am and you run.
No fee, no frills. A bib is supplied with your name for you to print or you can make your own.
The objective of the "Défi Gars Filles" is to determine who of the girls or the boys will run the most kilometres. The winner gets bragging rights and a few prizes are raffled off. A fun concept which is gaining in popularity. The last 3 years, the event was held on the mountain, this year runners ran
in and around Parc Maisonneuve. Over a hundred runners participated. The girls rallied up to beat the boys, 104 vs 45 for a total of 1,063 kms for the girls to 794 kms for the boys. Bravo!

Phoenix runners Christiane Cantin and Christine Gadoury were there for the girls and
Pete ran for the boys. Pete took an early start at 5 am to take care of business!

Las Vegas Half Marathon

11/16/2015

Congratulations to Susan Crawford who ran the Las Vegas Marathon. She didn't see Elvis, but she did meet someone almost as popular...

"
Better than a PB, a selfie with Meb during the race!!! I started my run and then saw a guy holding a pace card that said Meb. I could not believe it. I knew he was supposed to be a pacer but never thought I would see him. I knew I couldn't keep up and remembered I had my phone. I struggled to try and take the picture, so he pulled back and said give it to me i will take it (while running). I said thank you - he said don't worry about it...have fun. Not the best picture but a great running moment."

Mebrahtom "Meb" Keflezighi is an Eritrean-born American long distance runner. He is the 2004 Olympic silver medalist in the marathon and finished in fourth place in the 2012 Summer Olympics. He won the Boston Marathon in 2014.

Course d'Oka - Half marathon and 10km

11/1/2015

Congratulations to Mary Knockwood, Nick Hribar, Sylvie Leduc and Claudio Cumetti
at the OKA race. Nick ran a solid 45 minutes 10km on a hilly course, good job Nick!
Sylvie was pacing her daughter Gabrielle who ran her first 10k, while Claudio ran a sub 1:45 PB, we'll make a serious runner out of you next year when you join up again! ;-)

Big Big High Five to Mary who we know has been working very hard to run a sub 2h Half.
Not only did she do it, but she ran a PB to boot AND she finished first in her AG!
Mary is the proof that consistent hard work at training runs pays off! Right Coach?
