Congratulations to everyone who ran the Ottawa Half Marathon. Unfortunately Margarida Silva who was running the Marathon had to pull out at the half way mark because of dehydration. She recuperated well after the race. Congratulations to Mary Knockwood and Bernie Cornell who both ran the Marine Corps Historic Half Marathon. Mary ran a great race and finished 3rd in her age group, a Canadian on the podium in Virginia, "Making Canada Great Again!!!". The Marine Corps Historic Half is perfectly situated halfway between the capital of the Commonwealth in Richmond and the nation’s capital. The hugely popular Marine Corps Historic Half has made historic Fredericksburg a fashionable spring weekend getaway. It was the second edition of the SSQ Longueuil Half Marathon & Marathon and 10k, 5k with over 3200 participants. Featured was a new and improved fast course that ran in the heart of Longueuil and through parks. A nice spring alternative to Ottawa if you want to stay local. Congratulations to Anna Maria Drouin who ran a BQ in a time of 4:21, well under her required time of 4:25. Will Anna Maria be Boston bound in 2018? Also running the half marathon, Albert Devries who ran a solid 1h37 and Pete Faucher who was returning to defend his 50-59 title. Pete finished 1st again in the 50-59 AG and treated himself to a new PB in a time of 1:24:11, good enough for 11th place overall amongst the younger "kids". Who knew you could still PB at 57! MARATHON HALF MARATHON Congratulations to Albert Devries who ran the St-Thérèse 10k. Nice to see you back racing Albert, his next race is the Longueuil Half Marathon May 21 which Pete will be running as well. There is still room. Flat and fast! Anyone?
