It was the 7th Edition of the Mount Royal Frozen Ass 6h race Sunday December 27th. This race was first organized in 2009 by Markus Wiaderek who was the MRSQ Race Director from 2008 to 2011. The winter weather finally made an appearance overnight on saturday so runners ran on a few inches of snow. Pete Faucher participated for the second time and finished 6th of 33 runners, and 1st for the 50-59 crew. The next edition will be held end of January 2017 in the hope of having more wintery race conditions. This is the second year in a row that the event has had clement weather, had the run been held on saturday this year there would have been no snow at all! It is the "Frozen Ass" race after all! :-) For more info contact Alexandre Emond : http://famr.ca/informations-famr/
Remember this Sunday December 20 at 8 am is the "Elves of the Apocalypse Run"
....Santa or elf hats are compulsory for the run. I will bring some spares just in case. There will be an additional stop at my place for a small alcoholic "tasting", most probably Baileys. Oh, and I hear Bad Santa might be showing up.....dont miss it, or you'll be on the naughty list! - Uncle Alan So your racing season is over? Noooooo! There are still a few events for the die-hards who will want to burn off a few calories between Christmas and New Years.
First there is the traditional Frozen Ass Endurance race December 27, 3 to 6 hours of running around the cross at the top of Mount Royal, no matter how cold it gets, hence its name. Susan Magher has run it several times and Pete ran it for the first time last year. Our friend from "down under" Kelvin Marshall will be in town again this year and plans on running. Hot soup and a warm fire await you in the chalet if it gets too cold. Let's hope for some snow and seasonal weather this year! More info and registration at this link: http://famr.ca/inscription/ If 6 hours of running in the cold is a little too much for you, well then Jessica Coll's 3rd Annual 5k Fun Run on December 31 should be perfect for you! This is a fun family event which starts at 10 am. Hot coffee and a snack will be served starting at 9. A small donation to the Terry Fox Foundation is appreciated. Please let Jessica and Olivier know if you plan on going so they can prepare you a bib: [email protected] More info at this link: http://jessicacoll.com/race/About/index.html |
