Défi Hivernal de l'Île Bizard - 5k and 10k

2/21/2016

Congratulations to new member Anthony Franchini who ran a 1 min 13 sec PB at the
10k Défi Hivernal. Anthony placed 5th overall and first in the 40-49 with a time of 36:24.

Anthony trains primarily with McGill Olympic, where Liz and Andre used to train.

Congratulations to Albert Devries who also ran the 10k in 45:36, good job Albert!

No one else from Phoenix participated, I guess we have enough of Ile Bizard 3 times a week :-)

Klassique Hachem FAT ASS

2/8/2016

It's fun to see that runners are still organizing FAT ASS events in the city. I participated in the Klassique Hachem February 7 with 15 other runners, a 5h FAT ASS organized by Antoine Rochette, a local ultra runner who finished second at the 50K MRSQ last summer. The event was free and runners brought food and drinks for everyone to share. We started at 9am and runners did as many laps up and down the old ski hill behind Polytechnique. 250m of climb, imagine going up the steepest part of KIllah Hillah over and over again for 5 hours! I had hoped to do 3 to 4 hours, and did 5h05 in the end with 45 laps total placing third behind a couple of young guns who did 50 a piece. A great hill-repeat training, and early enough in the Boston training to recuperate well. It's a great spot for anyone who plans on doing trail ultras this summer, I recommend it.
