You've come a long way in a short year and a 4:44 Montreal marathon last September!
Congratulations to young gun Shayan Mantegh who ran a sub 3:05 BQ at the Quebec City marathon. Since joining Phoenix in January of this year, Shayan has run 3 marathons, each with the intent to qualify for Boston. The time required for the 18-34 is 3:05 (see chart below for qualifying times). Shayan surprised us with an excellent time at the Toronto Goodlife marathon in 3:09:22 and then at the Ottawa marathon a few weeks later with a 3:07:20. Still a few minutes off, he tried again in Quebec city and finally succeeded with a new PB and BQ of 3:02:51. Shayan reached a new level in his running during the course of the summer with a brilliant run at the St-Anne 20k and a first ever 5k in DDO in 17:50. He ran a near perfect marathon in Quebec compared to his run in Toronto, the kid learns fast! Looking forward to seeing what is next for this young runner. Hope you can squeeze in below the cut-off for Boston, if not, no matter, you achieved your goal and ran your BQ, the rest is just registration capacity…
